Bridal
Favours
Giving
small mementos of a wedding celebration to female guests has become
traditional in this country. The idea seems to have originated in
Italy where five sugared almonds, representing health, wealth, happiness,
fertility and a long life, were put in a small pouch and tied with
ribbon. These Bombonieri were handed out o guests as keepsakes.
Alternatives
to the sugared almonds are pot pourri or lavender as a filling for
the small tulle bags used for Bomboniere today. These will remind
the guests of your wedding every time they smell them.
Personalised
thimbles and teaspoons or wine glasses are also popular as are china
and glass ornaments.
If
you wish to give favours to the male guests miniature bottles of
whisky or other spirits are usually very acceptable
